Over a network connection, terminal services provide access to application or data located on a remote computer. Any user can access remote computer but must have rights and permissions. Terminal Services uses Remote Desktop Protocols to provide these services. Window 2003 operating system has the great support of terminal services and offering more features such as reliability and scalability.

Terminal services allow the desktop and application sharing over the network. The administrator has the centralization and management control so that it can control computers from their desk. It is not necessary that if server has Microsoft window operating system then client also have the same in order to interact with server.
