Always have a copy of files to any secondary storage device like disk or tape to prevent accidental loss of data. The experts always suggest to make two or three copies of data. It is safe strategy to keep all your biJ,ck up files at different locations. This can be accomplished using operating system's command or using some special purpose back up utility. There are also some programs available which compress the data to take minimum disk space on the storage media.
