The Indian PC market is the fourth largest in the Asia-Pacific region after China, South Korea and Australia. We foresee a great business potential for computer mam-\facturers in India. The Indian IT sector has Been growing exponentially and there is a rising demand for employment in that sector. Though the industry is currently facing a slowdown, it will soon pick up and we see a tremendous potential in the growth of the industry.
The companies which are flocking to India to tap the market are rightly justified. In fact, the total shipment of PCs had already crossed 6.5 million units in 2007, thereby recording 20 per cent year-on-year growth in unit shipments. Of these, notebook PC shipments ac¬counted for 1.8 million units.
The past has been momentous to the electronics industry in India. If we move three decades back and compare the scenario, we realise how the industry has have seen the Indian PC market grow steadily over the years, especially in the consumer space. Strong growth in this space has put the Indian market parallel to global trends and adoptions. Also, the good news for PC manufadurers is that India is still a promising market. For a long time, computer manufacturing companies across the globe have been quite anxious about the Indian market and now they have been successful in their attempt to convert the Indian PC market into a profitable zone. Much of the success can be attributed to the astonishing performance of the branded PC manufacturers.
