If you often work with several documents open, don't waste time closing or saving them individually: just hold down the Shift key while clicking on the File menu. This has the effect of changing the Close and Save commands into Close All and Save All. In Word 2007, the Save All and Close All commands can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar after clicking the Office button, then Word Options, then Customize.
