Placing lines between sections of a document provides a clearer and more visually attractive break than the usual white space and a new heading. To add a simple line tliat runs from the left margin to the right margin, simply type three minus signs and press Enter. Three equals signs generates a double line, while three tildes (-) produces a wavy line.

You might like to experiment with hash signs and asterisks, too. To remove a line, place the cursor on the line above it and press Ctrl and Q. Now, if you find this tip doesn't work, there's a setting to check. Open the Tools menu and select Autocorrect options. In the dialogue box that appears, click the tab marked' Autoformat as you type' and make sure there's a tick in the box labelled' Border lines'.
