1. To get started in Writer, why not try creating a letter using the templates that are available? Click the File menu, hover the mouse over Wizards then select Letter from the options that appear. The Letter Wizard dialogue box will appear.

2. The wizard will now take you through five steps to customise your letter. The first lets you select the type of letter from Business, Formal personal and Personal. Click on the Next button when you've chosen, then move through the screens one by one.

3. Your template letter will now appear on screen. Each of the elements on the page can now be customised. Depending on what you selected in the Wizard, your address may be in place already - if not, click the relevant text areas and type it in.
