I've just bought a Nokia N95 mobile phone. I have connected it to my wireless router and can search the web, but how do I read and send myemails?

The Nokia N95 (and other N series phones) handles emai s in its Messaging program, along with SMS and MMS messages. It's a little confusing not to have a separate program, but there is some logic to keeping these together.

The first step is to set up the email account. Press the menu button (the one with two dots with an ellipse around them) and select Messaging. Press the left button to see the Options menu. Move to settings and press the centre button. Move down to the' EŽmail' option and press the centre button twice. Press the left button, scroll down to 'New mailbox' and press the centre button. Press Start, select the correct kind of mailbox (normally Pop3), press Select and Next. Enter the email address and select Next. Enter the server name; this will probably look like pop.domain.com or mail.domain.com. Press Next and enter the outgoing server.

The next step is to select the Access Point. The top option is to always ask, and this is probably best if you move between access points and want to make sure you don't incur data charges by downloading emails via GPRS. Press Next, give the mailbox a name and press Finish. Press the button for Back three times. Scroll down to the new mailbox; all mailboxes have a red @ icon. Press Select. Choose Yes when prompted to connect and enter the username and password. The username is normally the email address; if this does not work, try it without the part. Press OK. You might want to keep this information to save time in future. Select an access point and the new emails in the mailbox will be downloaded.
