Thread: Great outlook

I normally use Outlook Express. If! was in a webSite and wanted to send the link to a friend, I could simply click File, then Send. I would then be taken to my Outlook Express address book and I could choose who to send it to. It has recently changed: now, when trying to send a link the computer goes to the Outlook address book, which is empty, and I cannot see how to make it return to using the Outlook Express address book.

Have you recently installed Outlook or Microsoft Office (or installed a new Windows Mobile phone or handheld computer)? It appears that Outlook has taken over as the default email program, which is why Windows is trying to use it to send your link.
You have two choices: either use Outlook, in which case you need to import your address book, or go back to using Outlook Express. Outlook is much more powerful, so now you have it, it may be worth keeping.

To import addresses, open Outlook and click File, Import Internet Mail and Addresses. Click Next and scroll down the list. Select Outlook Express when it appears and click Next. If you have set up identities in Outlook Express, select the appropriate one and you may have to enter a password.

Click OK and follow the prompts to import addresses and, if you wish, mail. Going to Outlook Express is easier. Click the Start menu and select Set Program Access and Defaults (ifit doesn't show, click Control Panel, then double-click Add or Remove Programs and click the Set Program Access and Defaults button). In the window that appears, click the double down arrow and you'll see a list of programs. Under 'Choose a default email program' pick Outlook Express from the list and click OK. You may need to restart your computer for it to take effect.
