Children face a number of risks on the Internet these days, so as a parent, it is an entirely valid concern to reg¬ulate its usage. Advanced Parental Control (APC) can help you in this regard, with its time management system. A parent can specify when, and for how long, they want to allow their child to use the Internet, or even the computer itself. If there is more than one child in the house, each of them can ,be assigned dif¬ferent times of allowed use. TIme limits can be set, with a two minute log-off warning, so if the child has exceeded the limit, access is not allowed anymore.
APC also includes activity and content filtering features that let you prevent access to specified applications. Web sites can be blocked based on URL or specified keywords, so for example, all web pages with swear words, or the word "Orkut" can be dis-al¬lowed. On Windows XP, APC also has some special features such as restricting access to the Start Menu, Control Panel, Task Manager, and specific drives (such as the drive letter D. Activity can be monitored for all users, such as recording screens hots and key-strokes. To prevent meddling by a child, APC allows for password protection, and other measures that make it difficult to exit out of its control.
