If you copy music CDs to a computer using Windows Media Player 11 it will convert the tracks to Windows Media Audio (WMA) files. WMA is a fairly good format to use as it provides good-quality sound in small files. If you have a music player that can't listen to WMA files, though, it's possible to tell Windows to create MP3 files instead. Open Windows Media Player then click on the small down arrow just under where it says 'Rip' and choose Format from the dropdown menu. From the list of fonnats that appears, select MP3. We also recommend clicking Bit rate on the same menu and choosing I 92Kbps for better sound quality.
