What are Divide error and its solution?

This question can also take place if the software is being running on the computer with that hardware which is incompatible with the software. For e.g. this matter may also arise with a restore software intended for a specific computer and is being run on another computer or on the correct computer that has added the hardware which is within it.

Guarantee that the software which is being running on the computer is accessing with the computer and the system necessities and/or resolve if there are updates or replaced with the software which is being used.

Might be an Error’s causing autoexec.bat / config.sys, The user who is running Microsoft Windows 3.x can for the short term keep it aside or can also remove the additional lines which may not be essential in the autoexec.bat / config.sys

For the users who are running Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98, for them it is suggested that they can for the moment rename the autoexec.bat and config.sys to make sure that these files are not causing the subject. For doing this you can follow the below given instructions:

1. Click Start / Shutdown and restart the computer in a MS-DOS mode.

2. Once at the MS-DOS mode, type:

cd\ <press enter>
ren autoexec.bat autoexec.ch <press enter>
ren config.sys config.ch <press enter>

3. Once the files have been renamed, reboot the computer.

If you are not been able to get to a MS-DOS promptly or to the Windows to rename or edit the files, boot the computer in MS-DOS mode only.

Look at the Driver issue, If you are receiving the divide error message within the Windows, see to it that all the computer hardware devices like video card, sound card, network card and modem are having the latest drivers and patches on it.

I think there is a software problem please check the software issue in the computer, If this error is taking place when the computer is running game or any software program and the above given solution does not solve your problem, then check that all the software patches and/or upgrades have been obtain and useful.

In accumulation, also make sure that the another program which may be running in the background, like a Virus protection program, and see that this is not creating any problem to it as well as by end tasking all third-party programs / TSRs.

You are still affected by the divide error in the elder software program or game it can be caused by the compatibility issues with External / 2nd level cache. For the moment being disabling this feature in CMOS may also resolve your issue.
