This is caused due to the DDO or Disk Drive cover which is a TSR that load onto division two of the hard drive which are used for the computers that do not sustain LBA means that allows your computer to sustain and can see better then 520 MB. A DDO can also be used to setup a hard disk drive on a computer. When you are booting from a bootable diskette and your divisions are displayed as a MS-DOS panel it is liable that a DDO is present on the computer.
To verify it with a DDO which is present on the computer, take away all diskettes from the computer and as the computer is booting see that if any message appears on screen asking you to press a key series like as CTRL + ESC to boot from a diskette. If this message is displayed or a comparable message it is likely that a DDO is loading.
To see the divisions properly, stay for this message and press the key series one time asked to boot from a diskette. Once the suitable keys are pressed the computer will prompt you to then insert the bootable diskette.

If there is a division which does not make use of the FAT system which is overloaded into the computer, FDISK will display the partitions as a MS-DOS partition in the computer. Operating Systems that is not relate to this rule are: MS-DOS 5.0, Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME. If you are running any other operating system that has been overloaded into the computer it is likely that a different file configuration is being used such as NTFS or HPFS.

If there is a division been setup throughout the Fdisk as a MS-DOS partition it will then be displayed as a MS-DOS partition in your computer. If you have not setup the partition to be a MS-DOS partition then see the other potential. If you have produced a partition in Fdisk as MS-DOS partitions then make use of Fdisk to remove that MS-DOS partition and restructure the partition as a Primary or extensive Logical partition.

If your using a laptop computer and not a PC and running Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT then it is possible that your computer might be using a save to file service such as Phdisk. This service mainly intended to save the information you may be working on when it goes into the sleep mode or when your battery becomes low on power. Generally, this partition will be a small part of the hard disk drive and you should have another partition setup as a Primary or Extended Logical that contains your operating system.
If you do not have a laptop or all partitions are being showed as a MS-DOS partition refers to a different opportunity in the computer.

If you are considering that none of the potential is causing this issue to your computer to be displayed as a MS-DOS partition it is very likely that the computer may be contaminated by a computer virus. If you have a virus scanner then verify it is up-to-date and that you scan your computer for any viruses that can be cleaned on the computer.
If you do not have any virus defense program on the computer or cannot gain an up-to-date virus scanner it is recommended that you make use of fdisk for deleting and then reconstructing your partitions on the hard disk drive.
