Think WordPad for the Web and you have Windows Live Writer, which helps you compose blog posts and publish content to a website while you're offline. While its basic capabilities practically make Word Pad redundant, it goes well beyond plain text and lets you quickly and easily create photo galleries with neat border and positioning effects, add videos to a post, and even link to rich content on other social media sites. Of course it is designed to integrate best with Live Spaces and other Windows Live services, but also works just fine with Slogger, Word Press, LiveJournal, TypePad, YouTube, and others. You can edit your blog posts graphically or by tweaking the HTML code if you're comfortable with that, and preview everything before publishing it with a single click.
