The Intel Developers revealed a new presentation from Intel shows that Atom descendant 32nm processor Medfield will arrive in mainstream as smart phone.

The senior vice-president and general manager of Intel's Ultra Mobility Group Mr. Anand Chandrasheker, said in the recently Investor meeting streamed over web, "We take the power down again using 32-nanometer (technology), we, of course, take the performance up using 32 nanometer. But we also consolidated everything onto one chip and shrink the form factor (smartphone design) down again."

Medfield would be built on 32nm process integrates memory controller, I/O output, and multimedia functions on particular die. This processor will also be available in dual-core model and might integrated PC-based graphic cores. One of the two Medfield variants will have capacity to handle average graphics while the other would be capable of managing high-end multimedia graphics although no clarity on GPUs packed yet. These will create a situation for the Intel since it’s x86 architecture based processors used in the PC’s and notebooks it will also try to reduce the power consumption of these 32nm chips to offer longer battery life over a smaller die size smartphone. The Intel even declared that they are working on a technology that refers to idle power it means power consumption when the system is in the standyby mode such as smartphone or MID.
