If you a webcam there is a high probability that you only use it to video chat with your friends or to take snapshots and quickly send it online. Now you can": do more with your webcam' using ScreenCamera. You can use it to create a Screencast of the activity happening on your desktop and share it using almost all chat and VOIP applications like MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, CamFrog, Skype, etc.
Once installed, it will be displayed as a floating window from where you can access all the available options. There are two bars at the top and bottom of the toolbar for displaying a preview of the current screen or window. You can capture desktop screens and webcam images from the Screen button where you can choose to include or exclude the desktop screen from the video output. Alternatively, the web earn button allows you to include or exclude the web earn image.
There is also an option to capture the rectangular area where the mouse cursor is active. There are various other options for capturing different areas of the screen -like the whole desktop or only a particular desktop area. Another very good feature is the option to quickly select a particular window by dragging the Select Window Drag & Drop button to the window you want to include for video output.
It also lets you capture screenshots of any area that you select in BMP and JPG format and save it on the local drive. You can change the default storage path by clicking the Configuration button and in the Snapshots option define the path where you want to save the screenshots. In the Configuration dialog box, you can set the Frames per Second (FPS) for the video output of the screen or webcam. If you want to hide the mouse cursor during video output it is possible to do so by unselecting the 'Show mouse pointer' option. You can also set how the video output for the desktop screen and webcam will be displayed when sharing it online. You can also choose which one to make the primary or secondary display.
Another very useful feature of ScreenCamera is the ability to use it as a virtual camera driver to share your webearn with multiple applications simultaneously. It can be frustrating when you want to use the webcam in multiple applications since by default Windows doesn't allow multiple programs to access the webcam device. Screen Camera will override the default windows behavior and allows multiple applications to access a single webcam.
So for anyone who wants to do more with their webearn, this app will be more than handy by providing some useful functions.
