7 Zip Archiver 4.65: Saving space on the hard disk can be done in one of two ways -either by deleting files, or compressing them s.o as to occupy lesser space. If you don't want to delete your files, the next option is to compress them using a file compression tool. 7-Zip is one such free utility for creating ZIP compressed archives. It supports a number of formats for compressing a.nd de-compressing (besides its native. 7Z format which is one of the best compression formats currently). It has shell extensions to integrate with Windows (32 and 64-bit), and can run natively on Linux and other platforms too.
We do recommend that you defragment the hard disk too, besides compressing non-essential files to save space and speed up diskrelated activities.
HJ-Split 2.3: When ypu want to e-mail large files,.being able to split them into multiple parts is a good thing. With the free tool named HJ-Split, it is possible to reliably split files and join them back together at the other end.

Microsoft Rich-Copy 4.0: Ever wanted to pause a file copy/move operation that is in progress? Windows doesn't provide that functionality by default. Instead, you can install this freeware named RichCopy. RichCopy allows you to copy several files in parallel and pause or resume a file copy at any time. This is especially helpful when you know that a file move operav tion you started is going to take a long time to complete, but you just got reminded of something else that simply needs to be done rightaway and can't wait for the files to finish moving.
XYplorer 7.90: Sometimes Windows Explorer isn't sufficient or just not the right tool to manage your folders and files. Windows Explorer gets bogged down while browsing folders that contain a lot of photos, or while browsing network shares, is unusable under certain circumstances such as viruses infecting system files, or is a tool that should not be used if one is trying to use an alternative desktop shell (eg. LiteStep). A good alternative file manager is XYplorer (a play on the word "Explorer" since it is a replacement). XYplorer offers tabs, and is quite fast in browsing through the hard disk, and network shares.
Cobian Backup 9: Are the files and documents on your hard disk safe? If the hard disk suddenly fails (for any reason), then what impact will it have on your work? Clearly, your most important files must be backed up regularly, on some medium other than a hard disk (such as Rewritable CDs, pendrives, etc). Cobian Backup is a free tool that can be used to schedule and backup your files and directories from their original location to other directories/drives in the same computer or another computer in your network.
