    Default Confusion over HDMI & optical to get 5.1 sound

    Prompt please!

    I would like to watch HD movies with the company. Will using video cards cable HDMI support audio 5.1 (DTS, DOLBY ...) through the receiver is naturally or if you want to set a separate sound card?

    Thanks

    If the video is Ati, the sound is built, if NVIDIA, it is necessary to connect to connect to the SPDIF is not math. Board double cable.

    Sometimes better to remain silent, especially when it is not thinking. Digital audio output on S / PDIF, HDMI does not depend on the sound card. The sound will depend on the decoder, which will be transferred to a digital signal. Video from nothing at all depends in this respect, it only transports digital audio through specified double cable with the digital output audio device (with the connector on the motherboard or on a separate sound card) or through a special video card bus driver ATI.

    CAN I achieve good Sound (DTS, DOLBY ...) on HDMI or need anything else (which is extra Device)?

    It is desirable that the sound quality was as very good acoustics.

    Thanks

    Procedure for short.
    1. We need to make sure the driver HDMI Audio (set if not set), or connect the card to the connector on the digital output (S / PDIF header; look in the manual to your motherboard or sound card or on a catfish labeled slots, not that hard to find: a small connector with two pins);
    2. Connect HDMI video output and a corresponding input AV-receiver connected to your TV and speakers;
    3. Select the sound settings in the OS and the necessary decoder modes (such as fine-tune not say, but there must be all the more intuitive). As far as I know, to play in surround sound was needed in the audio codec mode Dolby Digital Live.

    The sound quality will depend on the decoder, expanded digital multichannel audio (DTS, DD) for several analog audio for each speaker. That is, from the device (AV-receiver), which will be connected with a video cable, HDMI? If you believe AV-receiver options, it is naturally necessary.

    Thank you. Generally clear. Another question...

    All there for the better the sound will be better to put a sound card with optical output?

    Well, this "figure"! How can it be better or worse? The decisive will be the Receiver (quality D / A converters), as it has already spread to the audio channels and, of course, acoustics.

    The same question.

    I would like to watch HD from your computer.

    What you need except an optical cable? What and where to change?

    Explain plainly and Order, as well as Loch full. If you write to the reduction, explain the meaning PLISSS!

    Not considered for work.

    Sounds good to listen to home theater, which I understand, and should stick optic cable.

    Thanks to all.
