Thread: Clock problem

This refers to the clock on my computer. Whenever I switch off the computer the clock stops working, and when I restart it I have to set the correct time. Changing the relevant battery has not helped. What could be the probtem & how do I get it rectified?

The problem lies with your motherboard. The battery is not supplying enough power to the respective timer and hence the clock resets when you switch off the computer. You can get your motherboard repaired by giving it to your local computer engineer or contacting the manufacturer or distributor. Repairing the board can be a bit expensive and doesn't always work. Replacing the board is a good option, but it can be costly as the new board might involve changing the processor and memory modules too.

My advice would be to stick with the problem and take a little trouble to set the date and time each time you switch on the computer. If you wish to take a risk (it may not be that risky if the engineer repairing your motherboard is well trained) you can choose to have the motherboard repaired.
