Thread: Desktop error monitoring

I purchased an assembled desktop computer (Windows XP Professional) in July 2007. Up to October 2008, it was displaying the selected wallpaper correctly. However, since then, the screen always goes blank after restarting or switching the computer off. Every icon, toolbar and so on, is correctly displayed on the screen. All functions installed in the PC are working normally, except this problem. I have tried all the possible tricks at my disposal, but to no avail. Incidentally, the same difficulty is also faced by my friend who has the same type of PC.

Have your computer inspected for a virus or spyware attack. Install a good free antivirus tool such as AVG or Antivir and update it. Scan your PC for any type of virus infection. Install AdAware. NoAdware, and so on and scan for possible malware and spyware too. Use hjjackthis.exe to get rid of any registry infections. Alternatively, you can format the computer and reinstall Windows all over again if you wish to.
