As soon as you type in the Firefox address bar, it offers selection options for quick completion of the entry. The program uses all visited websites from the chronicle for this. You want to use this function for saved bookmarks too. The auto-complete list has a distinct short term memory: it preserves visited website addresses only for nine days.
You can help the gray cells of the browser with the free extension 'Autocomplete Manager' and determine the behavior of the function yourself. Download the tool from /firefox/ addon/2300. Install the tool and restart the browser.
From now on, you can configure the settings of the extension with the new menu command 'Tools I Auto complete Manager'. First click the 'Options' symbol in the dialog and activate the 'Active Component' tab in the successive window. Then select the 'Enhanced' setting and switch to the corresponding 'Enhanced Component Options' tab for further settings.
Activate the desired option 'Include bookmarks' so that the extension does not ignore your bookmarks. You can control whether the function should also record the website name or parts of the address with further options. In 'Sorting criterion', change the order of the view - this comes in handy if you want to see the most frequently visited sites first. You should activate the 'Fill best match inline' setting under 'Suggestion popup' so that the tool automatically offers the best hits when you type in the address bar. Some more options help you customize the displayed selection list All hits from the bookmarks are shown in cursive. If you want to go back to the default behavior, set the 'Active Component' to 'Default' in the 'Options' of this extension.
NOTE: The behavior of the list also changes when this extension is installed. This list can be viewed with the arrow symbol on the address field. This now shows all visited websites and does not allow any editing here. You can either directly edit the chronicle or edit it through the extension under 'History Manager' if you want to delete any of the entries.
