The BenQ Joybook Lite U 121 Eco is yet another addition to the 'small-n-cute' brigade in the netbook line up. Sporting an 11.6in screen, it is light weight and has a blue lid with a gray-black body. The keyboard is quite spacious, however we felt that the build quality was not up to the mark, and the touchpad rather small.

The are system status indicators, battery, hard disk activity and for WLAN/Bluetooth are on the front panel, immediately below the lights are the speakers to the left and right. The sound is impressive, there was no distortion even at maximum volume levels. However, the multi-coloured status indicators give a toy-ish look to the U 121. The screen boasts of an impressive 366x768 resolution.

The netbook specifications consist of an Intel Atom 2530 processor with I GB memory and 160GB hard drive, Intel GMA500 Graphics and 2-channel SRS TruSurround HD Technology. Connectivity-wise, the U 121 has three USB ports, a Ethernet port, a multi-card reader, a VGA, a Kensington port along with the usual audio ports. Like its predecessor the netbook has the option to add a solid state drive inside.

The BenQ Joybook lite U 121 Eco has few environmentally friendly features. It consumes less power compared to other netbooks, because of Intel's Atom 2530 processor, which requires 2watts in comparison to N270IN280 which consumes 2.5watts. The screen is also mercury-free and uses a low-energy LED backlight.

The BenQ U 121 has a quick charge facility, which allows users to charge 80 percent of the battery in an hour. During our test period the battery lasted for five and half hours on a full charge, which is quite good.

With its eco-friendly tag the BenQ Joybook Lite U 121 Eco is comparatively better than your average netbook. It is a good option for those who want a lightweight netbook with a bigger screen.
