Lenovo has introduced an updated version of the Jdeapad SlOe, which has all the features of its predecessor as well as some new ones. The 10.1 in WXGA LED backlit TFT screen has a 1024x600 pixel resolution with a matt coating, which is quite effective in a well-lit office or outside on a bright sunny day. The screen produces images that are sharp, bright in colour and with good contrast. The 1.3 megapixel webcam is located on the top bezel of the screen. Despite its plastic body the build quality is quite sturdy.

There are no surprises in the configuration. The Idea pad S10.2 has an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz CPU. The 1 GB memory is coupled with Intel 945GSE chip set that provides the integrated GMA950 graphics. A 160GB 5,400rpm Western Digital hard drive comes as standard with Windows XP Home pre-installed. There are three USB2, two audio, a VGA out port and a four-in-one card reader. The communications suite comprises of 802.11 big WiFi, 10/100Mbits/sec Ethernet and Bluetooth 2 EDR.

Lenovo is renowned for its notebook keyboards and the Ideapad S 10-2 is no exception. Although the keys are small we felt comfortable using them. The design of the keyboard makes it easy to use even for people with large fingers. The touchpad has a slightly textured finish making it easy and comfortable to use.

Other than the usual black, the Ideapad S10-2 is also available in white, red and gray.
