This product will definitely catch the attention of a rich geek. Asus' BR-HD3 HDMI Wireless Kit claims to be a complete wireless media transmission solution. The product consists of a transmitter and a receiver which look quite similar, and connect the HDMI interfaces of a PC, media player or game console to a TV, projector or LCD monitor respectively. Just switch on the units and the wireless kit comes alive. It streams high-definition media content using the Wi-Fi 802.11 n standard over a 5 GHz band which spells a wider operation range and higher data throughput. The Asus BR-HD3 supports high-definition resolutions up to 1080i, but not the full 1080p due to limited bandwidth, which is disappointing. You also get selectable frame rates (24 and 30 fps) up to 60 fps.

This kit features an IR blaster which externally connects to the media player through the wireless streamers. This is an advantage as wireless streamers can be kept in different rooms where line of sight is not required for the IR remote. The build quality of the kit is rugged, but the glossy body is a dust, scratch and fingerprint magnet. The units are wall mountable, and can be easily hidden behind a TV or inside a cabinet. Setting up the system is child's play, and there was no noticeable dropping of frames or reduction of image and sound quality due to the wireless transmission.
