A first glimpse at the Champion Slim 13160 netbook and you might mistake it to be a hybrid Apple product. Another look at it and you will find that this netbook is from Champion and it is a complete rip off of the MacBook Air, though in a white plastic body. Designed to look elegant and sleek, the Atom-based net book from Champion can actually turn a few heads. This is one if the cheapest net books available out there with such a large LCD screen, at 13.3 inches. It features the basic netbook specs such as an Intel Atom N280 processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB storage, webcam and a three cell battery.

The netbook is no better a performer than every other which has this standard set of components, but yes, the design and weight do attract attention. The body is rich white with a glossy finish, but has a below-average build quality. The hinges are not tough enough and the lid can easily be broken if handled carelessly. The keyboard keys are also very feeble and wobbly even though they are large and evenly spaced.

The netbook features a bundled IR remote to control Windows Media Player. Two USB ports are available on the sides of the netbook, one of which is enclosed in a retractable flap which also features the headphone socket and a propriety VGA-out port. We opened the battery compartment to find out its specifications, but were surprised to see that there weren't any power rating or voltage mentioned.

Over and above, this netbook is very decently priced, which means owning a large-screen portable is now reality and not a dream anymore for those on a shoe-string budget. Champion retails the netbook in two variants-one with Linux and the other with Windows 7 preloaded. On a last note, this seems like excellent value for its cheap price, but longevity remains to be seen.
