DVD drives and HD are same in how they get together to a PC. Majority of these drives up until recently were of the ATA type which stands for Advanced Technology Attachment. Newer drives are of the type (SATA) which stands for Serial Advanced Technology Attachment. The successive drives are faster but the ATA drives have the capability to string two devices like a HD and DVD drive together. That’s why you can install a DVD drive to a HD.
Things you’ll need:-
• Screwdriver
• IDE cable
Instructions:-
1. Open the computer up by unscrews the side door on the box. The door do has a lip and is screwed onto the behind of the case with several screws. Remove the screws and move the door out. Turn the computer on its side and then unplug it.
2. Do convince the cable that is attached with your HD to the main-board has two links; one should be attached to the drive and other left open. If you don't have two links you should buy an IDE cable with two links. IDE stands for (Integrated Drive Electronics), which is just another name for ATA drives.
3. Put off the DVD drive to slave. On the back of the DVD drive there is a jumper and some pins. The jumpers attach both the pins jointly to make a sure setting. On top of the drive there should be an picture that shows how to make the master, slave or cable select configurations. Set it to slave. Cable select will work if both drives are to the cable select.
4. Revolve the DVD drive in an undo bay in the PC case. Join the undo IDE cable to get data link on the DVD drive. Put a power link by the power provide to the power connection on the DVD drive.
5. Shut the PC and restart the PC. If your computer does not recognize the drive, enter the BIOS by pressing the key scheduled on the screen to go into setup. Go through the menu choice and set all of the first and second channels to "Auto detect" and then choose "save and exit".
