The "Hard disk full" message appears when the maximum limit for hard disk space is exceeded and you begin to encroach upon the minimum amount of space required by Windows to operate. For example, when you make a copy of a CO, the process requires Windows to copy the contents of the CO onto the hard disk and then burn the stored contents on a new CO from the hard disk. This requires a minimum of 700 MB of hard disk space. If Windows does not find this space then it will tell you that your hard disk is full.

To prevent the message from appearing, you need to free up disk space on your hard drive. You can free up hard disk space in a number of ways.

o Use the Disk Cleanup utility of Windows to free up space. Go to "Start I Programs I Accessories I System Utilities I Disk Cleanup".

o Just organizing your hard disk using the disk defragmenter utility can free up space. Go to "Start I Programs I Accessories I System Utilities I Disk Defragmenter".

o Remove unwanted programs. Go to "Start I Control Panel I Add or Remove Programs". From the list of programs, you can remove programs that you seldom use. This will free up valuable hard disk space.

o If you have more than one partition or disk drive, select one that has sufficient disk space for the temporary file storage area of Windows.

o Ensure that your Recycle Bin is empty. You can permanantly delete the files from here which you feel are unnecessary.

o If Hibernation is enabled for your computer, disable it to recover space equivalent to your RAM. To disable Hibernation, go to "Start I Control Panel I Power Options", select the "Hibernate" tab and uncheck the box for "Enable hibernation".

o If you are still running low on hard disk space then delete some files from your hard drive in order to free up some system space
