It seems like you have a probLem with driver conflict. A driver is a program that teLLs the operating system how to handle a piece of hardware-the CO/OVO writer in this case. Some older PCs came with oLd Roxio Software preinstaLLed. This was once the standard CO burning software. But when Roxio was uninstaLLed, it did not remove its driver, and it is now conflicting with the Nero software driver.
To confirm if the Roxio driver exists do the foLLowing:
o Use Windows ExpLorer and navigate to the foLder C:\oocuments and
Sett i n g s \< U se r na me> \Ap p Li ca t ion data\Ahead\Nero Burning ROM. The foLder name (at the end of this Long path) may vary, depending on the version of Nero.
o Look for the fiLe NeroHistory.log and open it in a text editor like Notepad.
o Look for "Existing Drivers" here. Read the entry: FiLe 'orivers\ CoRALW2K.SYS'. To get rid of the Roxio software and its driver permanently, foLLow these steps:
Go to "Start I ALL Programs I Add or Remove Programs". Now search the List for Roxio or Sonic programs (both use the same driver) and uninstaLL them by clicking on the" Remove" button.
To get rid of the confLicting Roxio driver, downLoad a program caLLed "Roxio Zap" from. After instaLLing it, the removaL tool wiLL ask you whether it shouLd uninstaLL the Roxio driver. Confirm with "I Agree". The driver wiLL disappear from the system when you reboot the PC Ido a Windows Restart!.
