Nero's CO-OVO Speed tooL offers a Disc QuaLity test that can check the status of the media. During the test, it examines the surface of a bLank CO/OVO for defects using a reading test. It offers a graphical analysis of the test and aLso a report with vaLues. Here, we wiLL expLain how to interpret the test results.
o Load the speed tooL by selecting "Start I ALL Programs I Nero I Nero TooLkit I Nero CO-OVO Speed".
SeLect "FiLe I Options",
CLick the "Disc QuaLity" tab.
Check the option "Show error Limits".
CLick "OK".
Insert a bLank CO/OVO that is to be checked.
o From the Co-oVo Speed tooL interface, seLect "Extra I Disc Quality Test".
CLick on "Start",
A battery of tests is conducted at different access speeds, and a graph (see image on this page) is pLotted as the test progresses. EXPLANATION: For CDs, errors that are detected from the second Level, the Last LeveL before data loss, are caLLed C2 errors. In case of oVos, these are caLLed Pif errors. The upper window shows the reading speed and the chart for the C1 value. The errors here are minute and can be safeLy ignored. The Lower window, on the other hand, shows the Pif and C2 errors which are detected at the second Level.
