The Nero CD-DVD Speed tool can verify this. The tool first produces a complex audio CD, Here's how to create a test CD,
Insert a blank CD in the CD writer.
Select "Start I All Programs I Nero I Nero Toolkit I Nero CD-DVD Speed",
o From the "Extra" menu. select "Advanced DAE quality test I Create Test CD". DAE stands for Digital Audio Extraction.
o Unselect the "Simulation" option and click on "Start" to write the CD.
The test takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The tool displays the following message after the writing is done: "DAE Test Disc has been created successfully". Confirm this with "OK" and close the window to go back to the main menu.
A "Data error" in the "Test results" is an indication that the burner could not read some audio samples on the disk correctly. You should reduce the reading speed while ripping in such cases.

A "Sync error" is an indication that the burner has read the neighboring sector instead of the correct one. A sync error is audible and gives an indication of the general ripping quality of the drive. In the top right of the window, you will see how well the drive can copy audio CDs directly under "On-the-fly copying",
The tool measures this for different speeds. You should reduce the speed in case an error occurs here. In case of an audio CD, you could reduce the speed with "Start I All Programs I Nero I Nero Toolkit I DriveSpeed", Click on the drop-list and select a slower read speed of around 8x [1.200 KB/s).
