Nero reads the ATIP [Absolute Time in Pre-Groove] of the inserted RW-disk before deleting the data, ATIP provides information about the performance of the blank CD/ DVD-the speed with which it can be read, for instance. If Nero is unable to access the ATIP, it does not access the disk further.
The reason: Disk duplication tools such as CloneCD, Daemon tools, or Alcohol make use of an ATIP screener to get around copy protection. The simplest way out is to simply uninstall the copy protection tool [with its ATIP screener}.
o Open the "Nero CD-DVD Speed" tool. Select "Start I All Programs I Nero I Nero Toolkit I Nero CD-DVD Speed".
o Go to "Extra I Erase disk" in the main window. Select "Full" and then "Erase". The disk can be used now.
