Thread: No sound for some applications

Try playing default Windows sounds, music files, or an audio CD. Does the sound difficulty occur in all applications? If not, check the program options for any soundrelated settings, such as volume and soundcard selection.

A specific application can often fail to produce sound due to some internal error within the software. In such cases, reset the settings of the concerned application to "default" and restart the machine.
