The speaker icon at the bottom right of the taskbar denotes that the drivers are loaded and sound is working properly. Users could accidentally disable the icon from being displayed in the task bar, so check if this is the case.
If the icon is not displayed despite your attempts to enable it, it is possible that corrupted drivers could be the cause of the device's malfunctioning. Reinstall the drivers from the driver diskette supplied with the soundcard or the motherboard [in case of an integrated sound solutionl.
If the speaker icon is visible, double-click on it-this displays the volume control panel for the speakers, microphone and line-in. In the sound settings, ensure that the "Volume Control" and "Wave" sliders are not set too lowlatleast 30-40%1. and that the "Mute all" or the "Mute" option is not enabled'
