First of all, make sure that the cable is attached firmly to the computer and to your phone. If you are using Bluetooth to connect to your phone, ensure that your phone is inthe Bluetooth discoverable mode. To do this in a Nokia phone, follow these steps:
o Open the menu, and select "Connections".
o Under "Bluetooth", ensure that "On" is selected.
o Then check "My Phone's Visibility". Make sure that it is "Visible to all".
If the problem still persists, then:
o Make sure that it's not a problem with the Bluetooth dongle you are using. Sometimes the COM ports used by the dongle may interfere with those used by Windows. To resolve this issue, install the software that came along with the dongle and see if your PC can detect your phone using this software. In case you are using Windows XP with SP2, try Windows' own native drivers. All you need to do is connect the Bluetooth dongle to a spare USB port and Windows will install the device itself.
o Try connecting your phone by cable instead.
If you are using a cable to connect your phone, then try the following:
o Start the PC suite, and click on the "Get Connected!" button on the bottom. From the "Get Connected" wizard screen, click on "Next". Select the desired connection type. Now the PC Suite should detect your phone.
Sometimes the phone software may be damaged, which means that you will need to upgrade the firmware. [See Updating Firmware)
