A TFT [Thin Film Transistor] monitor actually consists of millions of transistors arranged in a grid pattern. Each transistor is one pixel. With nearly 1.3 million transistors on the screen, the possibility is high that one or a few transistors may malfunction, There are two kinds of pixels which don't work: a dead pixel and a stuck pixel. A dead pixel appears as a black dot on the screen. These pixels usually show up when you power up your monitor for the first time after you've bought it. Sometimes they clear up fairly quickly, but most of the time, they stay dead. A stuck pixel, on the other hand, appears as spots of color.

There are options here which will allow you to display monochromatic colors, Use them to find out exactly which pixel is misfiring. For dead pixels, there is little or no chance of resuscitating them back to life. There are a few ways of fixing a stuck pixel. o You could try running pixel fixing software like JScreenFix, Find it at . JScreenFix is a Java applet that runs safely in any browser you're running.

It requires no installation. Once JScreenFix has opened in another browser window, use the full screen option [Fll] option to run the applet in full screen to make sure that all the pixels will be used by the applet.
