The perfect gaming PC cabinet needs to be large enough to house heavy duty components including huge graphics cards, cooling devices and multiple hard disks without clutter, yet be light enough to carry around when required. And, of course, it has to look hot as hell to be a style statement for the owner. One look at the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 and you know that it is the perfect gaming cabinet. FEATURES: The Cosmos is an all-aluminum chassis with a glossy back front panel. Like its cousin the Stacker, the power buttons, USB, FireWire and eSATA ports are on top, and you have to open the front panel to access the optical drives.

The Cosmos has a completely tool less design. The side panels snap on and can easily be opened with levers at the back. You get to truly appreciate the beautiful design of the Cosmos once you open the side panel. There are five bays for optical drives, and under them another six bays for 3.5-inch hard disks. Fitting optical drives becomes easy due to the push¬locking buttons-just slide the drive in from the front and press the button to lock it in place. That's it! All the hard disk bays are held in place with thumbscrews.

To fit hard disks, you just have to unscrew the bay, slide it out using the handle, fit the drive, and slide it back in. This innovative design makes it easy to manage the drives' cables. Even the PCI slot cover plates are held in place with thumbscrews. This means no more busting them open with screwdrivers! You can remove and replace them with great ease and when required.

A very thoughtful feature of the Cosmos 1000 is that the PSU sits right at the bottom. This allows the 120 mm fan to be pushed up a little, to draw out hot air coming directly from the CPU heatsink. This design also comes in handy if you are planning to install a water-cooling kit, because the top area is used to house Open up the Cosmos and you see exactly why we fell in love with it!

the radiator. While we are on the topic of cooling, the Cosmos comes with four 120 mm fans inbuilt-one at the back, two on top and one on the bottom. Furthermore, space is provided for another 120 mm fan above the hard disk bays for better hard disk cooling. At the rear end of the cabinet is a huge vent to throw out the hot air which comes from the two exhaust fans on top. The side panels are fitted with damping material in order to ensure that noise levels stay low.

VERDICT: Okay, so what if the Cosmos 1000 does not have a transparent side panel? It does not have flashy LED fans. But it makes up for all that with its ingenious design and flawless cooling. Plus the silver chassis looks so good!

It has enough features to be a top end gaming cabinet, yet looks classy enough to nest orthodox computer components. With brilliant build quality, cooling mechanism, and jaw-dropping looks, the Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 is definitely one of the better cabinet designs we have seen recently. No flaws whatsoever, this one's, a complete winner.

FOR: Excellent design, good looks, effective cooling.
