Are you the type of person who needs his laptop on almost 24 hours a day, doing some work or the other? It is almost certain that your laptop will heat up due
to the stress. Laptops rarely have CPU heatsinks, unlike desktop PCs which can accommodate heatsinks, fans and other cooling devices. The Evercool laptop cooling range provides the solution.
EATURES: Evercool's laptop cooling range is divided into two products-Zither, which is a cooling pad, and Magic, which is a heatsink accessory. Let's talk about the Zither first.
The Zither cools laptops using two exhaust fans and one blower. The laptop rests on the cooling pad at a 20 degree angle, which is supposed to make it
more comfortable for the user to type on. Magic, on the other hand is a snap-on accessory. It fits over a laptop's heatsink vent and has an exhaust fan to suck out hot air.
PERFORMANCE: We ran 3DMark's CPU tests on a laptop in continuous loops over
three hours to get the laptop nice and hot. We then brought the Zither and Magic into the test one at a time. When the laptop was running without Zither, we noted that the temperature was 44 degrees. With the introduction of Zither we noticed a drop of 4 degrees over 30 minutes.
With the Magic, over the same period of time, we noticed a drop of 5 degrees. However, we have to say, the build quality of both the products is highly disappointing. We had to constantly deal with the shell of Magic's fan speed regulator falling off, revealing the PCB. VERDICT: The Evercool range of laptop cooling devices provides a decent solution for home users who have their laptops running for five to six hours a day.
Just don't bother trying to figure out the poorly translated English on the package, which includes the stupefying gems "the center of NB can get more better heat efficie'ncy by using it to avoid the CPU get over-heating and shut down situation" and "be more save the electric power"!
FOR: Decent cooling solution.
AGAINST: Poor build quality
