HDMI incorporates sound (DVI is only shown), but in quality, exactly the same.
Good! Anyway, I have a monitor from Asus vs247 kings who was using the DVI cable. Today I got to buy an HDMI cable and I always thought it was better, but now I have worse image. "Maintains" the same resolution but is smaller and not even cover the entire monitor (I say "keep" pq continues to set 1900 x 1080 but is fatal). Is this normal? Some settings need to play? In the menu of the monitor does not see anything, and the CCC either. The graphics is an ATI HD 5770.

In theory, the quality is the same, but on some monitors HDMI looks worse, with more saturated colors, less sharpness, etc. Depends on how come configured electronic monitor.
Yesterday I tried it with my new monitor and if it fails as you say the HDMI scaling as Cobra says the sharpness of the letters and the whole was terrible ....
Now I have a laptop connected by hdmi to a speedy TV 32 "1360x768 and looks luxurious, do not know if the cable is hdmi 1.4 has something to do in the field definition.
For if he was lost in this topic. I always thought that the quality HDMI to DVI would be better, that would be the logical progression. If not and I wont catch me more seriously IPS monitor, because I threw back the question of the connection.
