The music renamer works with file names using tag information. The renamer uses placeholders in an internal format to do this. Placeholders use information from the tags and replace that information in the name of the file. Placeholders normally use the name of the tag between two percentage signs to do this, track for example. For the standard nomenclaŽture of files, in the format bar, use artist title to rename all files based on the artist and title fields in the tags of the files. There are a number of other preset options available from a drop down list, but you can create your own file name using placeholders. This can also be useful to add your moniker next to files you have generated - or ripped. Click on the checkbox 'Restructure files on disk based on tag information' to organise your music.

This is useful to place files within folders of the relevent artist and album. Tagscanner can quickly organize a large quantity of files in this manner. The normal structure you would use is D:\music album but again, you can change this as per your preferences. Clicking on 'Also move non-music files' will move playlists and album art to the relevant folders. There is a list of all placeholders in the text transformations window itself for ease of use, this includes exotic placeholders like totaltracks and i_bitrateThe 'preview' button allows you to have a look at the changes you are about to make before you actually apply the changes. Once you are in the preview, click on the 'settings' button to come out of the preview mode. Please note that the tag information has to be comŽplete to use the automatic renamer.
