The Sandisk Extreme Cmzer Contour 16GB is sleek and glossy. The pack consists of a carrying case to protect the drive from scratches and instnIction manual. The drive is pretty solidly built and made of matte steel and plastic with a blue LED engraving of the model name.

However the surface material may attract fingerprints very easily due to its glossy finish. The USB connector is hidden inside the drive and you have to slide open it. The operation is tricky as compared to the other USB connector hidden drives as you have to slide it twice rather than once.

The drive comes with some downloaded applications like Skype, McAfee VinIs Scan, Backup, password manager with 128 bit AES encryption to ensure that the data is more than secure. You also can add Firefox and several other utilities from www.u3.colll.A U3 enabled drive lets you carry installed software on the same flash drive that carries your date fi les. This means, you can plug it into any PC and work, playa game, message friends, send email, edit photos and more. A U3 smart drive makes any PC, your own Pc. And when you unplug it, it leaves no personal data behind.

You can select to enable or disable the U3 feature of the drive once you attach it to the Pc. However, U3 is supported only by Windows and Mac and Linux users will not find it useful. On the perfonnance front, the Cruzer Countour is good. The read/write speeds are very good as compared to several other drives available in the market. The company claims that its reading speed is 25mbps and writing speed is 18MB per second. We found it quite right while testing it with smaller amount of data, but with a larger chw'lk of700MB to I GB, the read speed came down to 18 mbps while the write speed remained at 17mbps. The drive also supports Windows Vista Readyboost feature.
