Default Mapping of USB in computer

I had to reload my windows 2000 and also everything which went well except the USB port which did not work at all. It used to have a mapping letter but now it is not there anymore. I also require to know about the path for getting it working properly again in the computer?

Mapping of letters? USB ports aren't allocated with the letters... unless you have plug a storage device into them... but then to it's the storage device which are been assigned with a letter, and not the USB port. What are you plugging in that isn't being renowned? If it is a storage device, plug it into a new computer to make sure it is working. If it does, then check what are the drive letters which are already in use... there might be some letters which the USB storage devices won't grab it at all. You may too want to check if you need the drivers... which you shouldn't, but it is potential.
