Thread: Apacer Handy Steno

The Handy Steno AH522 by this Taiwanese manufacturer is pretty attractive. With a dual finish of black and golden, the Steno AH522 comes in capacities of 8GB (reviewed here) and 16GB. The build quality ofthe drive is top-notch, thanks to the zinc alloy and electropolished components.

This one is a USB2 drive with retractable USB connector. The data transfer activity is indicated by the blue glowing LED activity. Apacer claims a read access speed of30MBps, however, in our tests, we achieved 28MBps. The burst speed of the drive in our test was 29.4MBps.

From the above results, we can say that the drive is pretty decent on the performance front. With respect to the operating system support, the Handy Steno AH522 can work on Windows 98/98SEIME/XPI 2000Nista, Mac OS 8.6 and Linux 2.4.0 or above.
