With a multitude of options around, it makes sense to pick up a USB flash drive of a reputed brand that offers an attractive price per GB ratio. The San Disk Ultra Backup offers something unique which is a first for a USB flash drive-a one-touch backup button. Available in four capacities (8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB and' 64 GB) the drive' is targeted towards those who regularly backup their precious data.
The Ultra Backup weighs merely 14 grams and sports an all-black shell with a matt finish, except for the glossy sides. The drive features a sliding design and has a slider on top to expose or retract the USB connector. The 'Backup' button is located on the shell, right above the slider. This drive is U3-powered and comes loaded with an application called SanDisk Backup.
The first time when you press the 'Backup' button, it takes you through a wizard-driven setup for configuring the application. You can specify the folders or types of files to be backed up and the number of versions you wish to keep. After you're done, you can backup with the push of a button.
We received a 16 GB variant of the drive from San Disk and we put it to test by backing up 1 GB of assorted files. We had to wait for more than six minutes for the operation to complete (the read speed of 21 MB/s was impressive though). We expected good write speeds, but it failed to impress us.
