Sony's PlayStation 3 outsells both Xbox 360 and Wii by time things are winding down for all three. In "Taming the Waves: Games Console Life Cycles and Platform Competition," report company presents particular figures, predicting all from middle timeframes to life unit sales.
The 127 million PlayStation 3 relieves Strategy Analytics expects Sony sells by generation's close. Compare with 103 million Wii units. And Xbox 360 lifetime sales figure? The press release strangely neglects to give one. Report then states PS3 will commercially viable five years after Wii's been changed by its successor.
Present system ownership must peak in 2011, says report, after which companies must intro new systems to keep industry growth. Search Wii's successor with new or more discounted editions of PS3 and Xbox 360 next year.
