FIFA Manager 09 gives complete control over management of football club. You are responsible for line-up, tactics and training of team and for signing right players, improving club facilities and stadium. It is vital that maintain good relationships with players, board, sponsors and press. Consistent with company's developments on other football titles, FIFA 2009 exhibited promising game play developments. Most clear is game's increased reaction. Passing, dribbling, and even physical pushing and shoving that happens in game all happen at quicker and realistic pace than earlier versions of FIFA.

Graphics is remarkable, and sharp realism around animations has large impact on quality of play. Game features 60 specific screens with statistics and information with 20 videos that are triggered by events such as team's first trip to Europe.

The words "EA Sports" and "underdog" don't frequently belong in similar sentence. However, we find constantly struggling to prevent mentioning that FIFA Manager 09 is de-facto underdog to business standard Football Manager in space of text-based soccer simulations. Legendary descendent of Championship Manager hasn't announced firm plans of its 2009 edition, leaving EA with chance to swoop in and collect fans hearts with screens and potential FM killer. If EA's preview of game at new Season Opener event in Vancouver is anything to go by, it have separate chance to do so. FIFA Manager has always tried to distinguish itself from Football Manager by presenting slicker presentation style more in line with EA credo.
