WordPad is a word processing program. As you know, a word processing program is useful for jobs such as drafting letters, printing mailing lists, producing reports, etc. As soon as the W ordPad window opens up, you will notice a blinking line on the top left hand comer of the empty space in the windows. This blinking line is known as cursor and its appearance indicates that the Word Pad program is ready. to accept any text you type.

Let us now create a simple file in WordPad and then store it in the hard disk. First, let us type the text given below in the open WordPad screen. If you face any difficulty while typing this text, follow the tips given after this text.

1. To leave a line before typing, press the Enter key on the keyboard.

2. Type Microsott from t.he keyboard. To type a capital letter, say M. press the Caps lock key to turn it ON. Then type letter M. If you do not want to display the capital letters further, press the Caps lock key again to turn it OFF.

3. To leave a space between two words, pressthe Spacebar key on the keyboard after typing the first word. Then type the next text, Windows XP Edition.

If you miss a word while typing, you can insert it easily. Suppose in the first line, you forgot to type XP in the expression Microsoft Windows XP Edition. You can insert the missing text by following the steps given below:

1. Movethe mouse-pointer to the right of the word Windows.

2. CbCkthe left mouse-button once. Immediately, a blinking cursor appears after the word Windows.

2.Now press the Spacebar key on the keyboard. You will see that a space appears after the word Windows.

3.Finally type XP from the keyboard. The text XP gets displayed where the cursor was blinking.

4.Type rest of the text as shown in.

If you have typed any word/letter incorrectly then you can correct it in the following way:

1.Placethe mouse-pointer to the left of the incorrect word/ letter

2.Click the left mouse-button just once. Immediately, the blinking cursor appears at that point. .

3. Now keep the Delete key pressed till the entire word/ letter gets deleted. After the word or letter is erased, type in the correct word.
