As you type some text in your file, it gets stored temporarily in the computer memory. The contents in the memory, if not saved, will be lost when your computer is switched off, or if there is a power failure. :::hances are that you may lose valuable data.
To avoid loss of data, the text should be saved as Don as the text is typed. Saving means storing the text safely as a file in the hard disk. You can save the Iped text as a file using the following steps:
1. Start with the window of Move the mouse¬pointer over the Eile menu in the Menu bar. Click the left mouse-button.
2. Immediately, a pull-down menu appears on the screen.
3. Now move the mouse-pointer over the Save option and click the left mouse-button Instantly, a Save As box gets displayed on the screen
4. In the Save As box, you will find some highlighted text inside the rectangular box beside the File name option In the rectangular box, type a file name for the typed text, say Vikas. This name replaces the default highlighted text beside the File name option.
Now you must choose a folder where you wish to store the Vikas file, otherwise it will be stored in the folder that is opened in the Save As box by default. Let us save this file in the Local Disk To do so, movethe mouse-pointer over the down-arrow button in the box beside the Save in option. Then click the left mouse-button on it.
6. Immediately, a pull-down menu appears.
7. Inside the pull-down menu, move the mouse-pointer over the Local Disk [C:] and cnckthe left mouse-button.The Local Disk [C:] gets displayed in the box beside the Save in option.
8. Now, you are one click away from saving your first file, i.e. Vikas. Movethe mouse-pointer over the Save button of the Save As box and cUekthe left mouse-button. Immediately, the Save As box disappears from the screen and the Word Pad document with the typed text gets displayed.
