We know that Explorer is like a mini library in which informatiion is stored in folders or files. In this section we will learn how to access to a desired folder or file, how they are opened, closed, saved, renamed, deleted, created, etc.

Opening an Icon from the Explorer Window

Let us now learn to open a folder or disk drive icon from an Explorer window and display its contents in The Contents box. Suppose, you wish to open the esktop icon. For this, you have to undertake the following steps.

1. We assume that the Explorer window of My Computer is open on your computer.

2. Place the mouse-pointer over the Desktop icon in the Folders box and click left mouse-button. Immediately, the My Computer Explorer window changes into the Desktop window. The Desktop icon opens up and displays its contents in the Contents box. Both the Indicator bar and the Title bar display the name Desktop.
