Opening and Closing a Folder in Explorer

In the Contents box displays folders and files present in the Local Disk The name of each folder is followed by an icon . Folders contain files which can be viewed only when the folders are opened. Now, let us open a folder, say the Windows folder. To do so, perform the following steps:

1. First. make sure the Local Disk drive window is open as shown in Then, move the mouse-pointer over the Contents box.

2. Locate the WINDOWS folder in the Contents box.

The Indicator bar

Over the Contents box displays the address as \ windows. It means the Windows folder that resides in Local Disk is now open. This address may also be termed as the path of the Windows folder.

Closing a folder in Explorer

Let us now close the Local Disk . For this, you may undertake the following steps:

1.In the window shown in. move the mouse¬pointer over the minus sign (8) beside the Local Disk and ctiCkthe left mouse-button. Now you will notice three changes:

(i) The [-]sign beside the Local Disk IC changes to a sign indicating that the folder is closed.

(ii) The WINDOWS folder window changes into the Local Disk IC window. The contents ofthe WINDOWS folder disappear and those of Local Disk get displayed in the Contents box.

(iii) All the sub-folders under Local Disk disappear from the Folders box.
