Creating a new Folder through Explorer

So far you have learnt how to locate files and folders through the Explorer program. Now, we will learn how to create new folders or sl.1b-folders in Explorer. Let us create a new folder inside the Local Disk. To do so, undertake the following steps.

1. Make sure the Explorer window of Local Disk as is open on your computer. Move the mouse-pointer to an empty area inside the Contents box of this window.

2. Click the right mouse-button. Immediately, a shortcut menu appears on the screen.

3. In the shortcut menu, move the mouse-pointer over the New option This displays a sub-menu beside the New option.

4. The highlighted text box is the place which you can use to give a name to your folder. In this box, type a name. say temp. The name temp replaces the highlighted text.

5. To confirm the name given to the new folder, move the mouse-pointer anywhere on the screen, and cHCkthe left mouse-button. The new folder temp is now created in Local Disk.

Now to refresh or practice that you have learnt under this head, do the following workout to create another folder TempI, under the Local Disk.

• Begin with the Explorer window of the Local Disk.

• Click the right mouse-button at an empty space in the Contents box of Local Disk.

• Click on the New option in the short-cut menu. A push up menu appears.

• Finally click on the Folder option of this menu.

• Now type the name Templ from the keyboard.

• Click anywhere on the screen.

So, you have easily done the above workout. After the workout, your Local Disk will resemble the following figure. It now has two folders, temp and TempI, and a file, Vikas. Remember, your Local Disk will show only these three contents if it doesn't have any other program folder or files. Otherwise, it would be like or shown previously.
