When you move a file from one location to another location in your computer, the file gets deleted from its original place and moves to its new location. In other words, in the operation of 'moving a file', the actual original file moves and so it does not leave a copy of itself at the place it was displaced from.

Let us now try to move a file, say Sachin, of the temp folder to the TempI folder. Both temp and tempI folders are present in the Local Disk . To carry out the file moving task, undertake the following steps:

1. Start with the Explorer window of the Local Disk . You will have to see the Contents box of this window to locate the Sachin file.

2. Before moving the Sachin file to the desired location, we have to highlight it. First. we should open the temp folder where the Sachin file resides. So, let us lookfor the temp folder in the Contents box of the Local Disk.

3. After locating the temp folder, double-clickthe left mouse¬button on it. The contents of the temp folder get displayed in its Contents box In this box you can see the Sachin file.

4. The next task is to locate the Temp 1 folder in the Folders box of the Local Disk.

5. After locating the Temp1 folder, move the mouse-pointer over the Sachin file, and click the left mouse-button. The file gets highlighted.

6. Keeping the left mouse-button p'ressedon the Sachin file, drag the file towards the Folders box. As you drag the file, you will see that a shadow of the file also moves along, into the Folders box.

7. The Sachin file, which in being dragged, has to be shifted to the Temp1 folder. So, keeping the left mouse-button pressed. place the file over the Temp1 folder in the Folders box.

8. When the Temp1 folder gets highlighted, release the left mouse-button. Now, the Sachin file disappears from the Contents box of the temp folder.

Verification:

Let us now verify whether the Sachin file has really moved into the TempI folder or not. We will do the verification in the following way:

Move the mo~se-pointer over the Temp I folder in the Folders box. Then click the left mouse-button on it. Immediately, the TempI folder opens up to display its contents in the Contents box. The Contents box shows the Sachin file. It means the Sachin file has been successfully moved from the temp folder to the TempI folder.
